Making Love … the Film

On a related note, there’s a Premiere of my most recent Perth film as an actor, called Making Love. No, it’s not one of those films! Here’s a quick synposis:

Matt Blonde was an aspiring Bollywood Producer. However, when he accepts money from the Bombay mafia to make a movie, theyโ€™re not happy with their return on investment. He leaves India in a hurry and ends up living in a cheap Australian apartment with Frank.

A bored, down and out accountant who dreams of getting the girl who he last saw at school and just met again. Matt has an idea to get back on the road to Bollywood stardom and fix Frank’s love life at the same time. However, there are many people out to stop them, including:

the manic Vice Detective, the Mobster who thinks they’re cutting in on his turf and the Judge who thinks they’re trying to impeach her, as well as a motley crew who have no idea about television. It all ends up going crazy in … Making Love.

My Other Life … as an Actor

I’ve just cleaned up my acting resume and integrated it into this site. Although I am far more devoted to making films, it’s good to do some acting now and then, partly so that I remember its challenges when directing other actors …

A Great Time to Join the Game

I’m feeling very grateful for the amazing changes in technology over the last few decades. I’ve been using the Internet for about 25 years, and it continues to dazzle. So how does this relate to film? Well, we all know how the price of actually making a film has collapsed in the last decade or so.

Even better, the Internet has opened up wonderful cheap/free ways to get your film seen after it’s made. During my study of hybrid distribution, I’ve learned a huge number of ways of getting your film in front of an audience, and getting paid as well. No more signing away all your rights for 25 years!

Getting a regular theatrical release can be a wonderful thing for many reasons, but in the past, it was either that or pretty much nothing. Nowadays, with tools like Youtube, Facebook, email, Bittorrent and the like, there are plenty of other choices. Some might even be better than a theatrical release!

We really are blessed to be making films at the moment.

An Education … for Peanuts

I’ve just finished Michael Hauge’s superb book Writing Screenplays that Sell. It’s incredible how much helpful information is packed into a single book. There’s no doubt I’ll be rereading it in time, along with the others I’ve already read.

I’m amazed how much you can learn just by reading the top dozen books in any field. You can pickup decades of wisdom and experience for a few dollars, even less on Ebay! Balancing this reading with actually doing, and my education is coming along nicely.

Ok, time do do some writing now ๐Ÿ™‚

Welcome

After being a passionate film lover for decades, and an actor for about 10 years, I finally took the jump into making films at the end of 2009. I had so much fun that it has become my new vocation.
